Our child development tools and activities are based on 30 years of research by our education
partner: the esteemed High/Scope® Educational Research Foundation. Founded in 1970,
the High/Scope® Foundation is an independent nonprofit research, development, training, and
public advocacy organization located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The Foundation's principal goals are:
- to promote the learning and development of children worldwide from infancy through adolescence
- to support and train educators and parents as they help children learn
In a High/Scope program, students learn through active involvement with people, materials, events, and
ideas. The High/Scope Child Observation Record (COR), a learning assessment tool called simply the Observation
on this site, was created to help parents, teachers, and other education experts chart a child's development
by summarizing observations of that child's behavior over several months.
